Barney is Back?

I thought this day would never come. Or at least I didn't think it would come so soon! And even though I've always loved Barney, I never thought how upset I'd get once he got whipped into a relationship...with Robin. But anyway, I hope that Barney is here to stay to enlighten us with...the Bro Code, his awesomeness, and...his awesomeness. Haha.

And another thing that's kind of exciting... Barney's next slap to the face is coming soon... I kind of wish CBS didn't spoil it for us but I'm kind of glad that a lot of the classic HIMYM is coming back!

Who Do You Want To See?

Throughout the seasons, HIMYM has had its fair share of guest stars: Britney Spears, Regis Philbin, Wayne Brady, Sarah Chalke... just to name a few. Some were pretty cool/funny/whatever, some were pretty lame *cough*britneyspears*cough*

So I don't know how I feel about rumors of some possible future/potential/rumored guest stars.

According to DListed.com, a celebrity gossip website, Jason Segel was found partying with Lindsay Lohan. EW. She's been out of work forever, let's hope she didn't blow him hoping to get on the show. That'd be terrible. She's not a good actress at all and the last movie she was actually good in was "The Parent Trap" and that was a remake!!

Another actress rumored to guest star is Rachel Bilson, who played Summer on "The O.C.". She's okay...but I don't know how I feel about that and I definitely don't think she should be the mother...

Bitter post, haha, but whatever. It's late and I need my sleep. Until next time!...

Fight! Fight! Fight!

It's been awhile since I've been keeping up with HIMYM, but now I am back. Since the beginning of the season, a lot of long time followers and myself have been very disappointed with the new season so far... the Barney and Robin relationship is weird and somewhat messing up the dynamics of the show... Jason Segel isn't really "hot" to me anymore, Barney's weird, Robin's weird...and I literally just now realized that we are missing some Ted action. The show is called "How I Met Your Mother". SO, the show is supposed to be centered around Ted and his quest for love; his search for "the mother". But recently, it's been focused more on Barney and Robin. And sometimes Marshall and Lily. Anyway...

This week's episode actually wasn't that bad. And I love how two of my communication teachers have used this episode as part of their lectures this week. In Relational Communication, we learn that every couple has conflicts. And conflicts do not equal a bad relationship. It is how you learn to handle the conflicts that will either make or break your relationship. In this episode, Marshall and Lily start to fight more because of the division of labor in the household (we talked about this in our Conflicts and Negotiations class), while Barney and Robin say their relationship is perfect because they don't fight and they have nicknames for each other. But in reality, Barney and Robin are just deal with their conflicts the wrong way: Barney deals with it by walking out. Robin deals with it by taking off her clothes. But once they went on a ski trip and were on the ski lifts, there was no way for them to escape the fight...

For Marshall and Lily, this is how their situation went:

I'm glad this one made me laugh... but the writers need to step up their game... or else I will be spending whatever free time I have, from now on, catching up on The Office. :)

Blast From The Past!

So this has to be one of my favorite episodes of HIMYM (season 2). The Slap Bet. One day the gang wanted to go to the mall but Robin was reluctant to go. She refused to tell them why and asked them to respect her privacy. The group came to two conclusions that Robin didn't want to go to the mall because either: a) she got married at the mall; or b) she did porn. As each person in the slap bet got more information to prove their opponent wrong, the "loser" would have to endure the sting of other person's hand.

The best part was...neither of them were right. Robin's deepest darkest secret is...

she was once a teenage pop star back in Canada. Also known as Robin Sparkles! I've always had a thing for 80's style and culture. It's so cheesy and it's so much fun and that's why I enjoyed this episode so much. But also, this was just the beginning of the many slaps Barney will have to face...good times...

Random thought...

...due to a combination of insomnia and procrastination.

So for those who has seen every episode of HIMYM, you know that the story is told through the narration of Ted in the year... 2030, I believe? But Ted in 2030 is Bob Saget, not Josh Radnor. Strange, huh? Well at least Peter Griffin agrees with me...(click on the link below).

Yeah, I know, who cares. Obviously, it's time for me to sleep. G'nite!

Barney says: "Wait for iiiiiit..."

Patience is a virtue and good things happen for those who wait. What does this have to do with HIMYM? Wait... and you will see...

I got an interesting comment from one of my blog followers recently. "You really like this show huh?" he says. I really do like this show...but there isn't that spark like there once was. *Sigh* So when I first started this blog, it was right before the season started and I wasn't lying when I said how excited I was about it. But now that we're four episodes into the season, I can't get myself to love it as much as I used to.

Last week's episode, "The Sexless Innkeeper," was hard to watch. With an episode title like that, you would think that it was going to be entertaining. But really it was just annoying. To make a long story short Lily and Marshall were the annoying couple that nobody wants to go on a double date with. They go out with Robin and Barney and even scare THEM away... well who wouldn't be scared away? They were trying way too hard, especially with the people who are pretty much their best friends. Blah blah blah, nothing was really interesting. Until.. the end! Dun dun dun... Throughout the episode, Barney and Robin make fun of Ted for being "The Sexless Innkeeper": one who takes home a girl but doesn't bang her because she was only looking for a place to crash. But at the end Ted tells Barney about a girl he had brought home and scored with the night before and says "God I love being single!" That's when Barney realized...what is he doing in a relationship???

I've heard a lot of different opinions about the new season. Some, like me, feel like it's not the same as the oldies. Some say they love it. I can't seem to understand what they love about it? Eh. Oh well. We'll just have to see what happens next...

"Double Date"

So we all know that there a lot of things that happen on TV that usually do not happen in real life. So usually, I would not think much of these unrealistic plots on TV and just let them be. But for the sake of this class and making an interesting blog, I am going to analyze and bitch about this episode...

In the second episode of Season 5, "Double Date", Ted goes on a blind date... halfway through the date, they both realize that they've already been on this blind date before!...7 years ago! He picked her up at the same time (not sure if it was the same place), they went to the same restaurant, ordered the same food, made the same corny joke, talked about the same things... HOW do you not notice something like that? You have to have had amnesia or something to not remember that you've already went out with that person the minute you see them! Obviously, things didn't click the first time if they never saw each other again.

If this were to ever happen to you in real life, how would you handle the situation once you've realized that you've been on this date before? Pretend that you don't notice at all? Point it out and try to have a friendly dinner? Or point it out and have an awkward dinner?

Ted and his date, Jen, realized that since their last date, they've already made a full lap around all the potential singles in New York and ended up back to each other. So what did they decide to do? Retrace the whole date from 7 years ago and give each other constructive criticism on what they did that was a turn-off. Apparently, Ted was a little snooty, especially when he points out spelling errors on a menu. And according to Ted, Jen talked about her cats way too much. They go more into detail but I'll leave it at that in case you want to see the episode for yourself.

Question: would you remember a blind date from 7 years ago in that much detail?

"Definitions"

What is it about HIMYM that gets me hooked? Maybe it's the story lines of the show since I can usually relate to them OR I know someone who is going through the same thing. In the season premiere of HIMYM, we find out that Barney and Robin have expressed their feelings for each other. They're not exclusive yet, but they've been secretly hooking up all summer. Remember: Barney is a narcissistic womanizer who is all about one night stands and Robin is a commitment-phobe who isn't into relationships that much either. When the rest of the gang catches Barney and Robin gettin' it on, they tell them that they need to have "the talk" and clearly figure out what they mean to each other. They beat around the bush and finally agreed to pretend that they are in a a relationship so that everyone else will get off their backs. In the end, Ted says "You do realize they are lying, right?" and Lily says, "No, Ted, they just don't know that they're not lying."

I'm sure most of you have gone through something like this sometime in your life, right? It's not always easy to have "the talk" with the person you've been frequently seeing and you are attracted to them. Why is it not easy? Because sometimes when you have a good thing going on, "the talk" can either make it or break it (not talking about the obviously bad and abusive "relationships" at all...that's a different story). But in the end, we must all take that risk to find out where we stand in a relationship.

But back to the show, it's going to be interesting with the new focus on Barney and Robin. Honestly, it's kinda weird. But I think we should give it time for the story to unfold and see how it works out!

Before I forget....

So I love Jason Segel and all... but he was kind of annoying tonight. His yelling just became "unfunny", over exaggerated and ridiculous to me. Oh Jason Segel...you let me down. Is it just me or does anyone agree? Oh well, haha.

Anyway, I'll be back later to tell you what I think about tonight's season premiere! Au revoir for now!

Suit Up!.....

...is what my brother's friend will be doing tonight at his house for the season premiere. Yeah, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this show...but that's pretty extreme if you ask me! :-P

So the day has finally come! The most legendary night in prime time television!! ...well, at least to me in my usually-television-less life. With my short attention span, you would think that I would be over Ted's ever long lasting story that usually seems to lead to one cliffhanger after another. But really, I am just excited for something new, not reruns, in the life of my favorite characters: Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin, and Barney.

So when we last left off (which seem like 5 million years ago), Barney and Robin finally confess their love for each other. Ted got a new job as a professor of an architecture class, and from the looks of the Season 4 recap below... "the mother" will be in his class.

What do you guys think of all this? Barney, the narcissistic womanizing bachelor, possibly getting into a relationship? Ted finally meeting the mother? I'm really hoping that my favorite show's expiration date does not come too soon (since it's pretty much the only show I watch besides The Office, haha).

Anywho, stay tuned tonight, TiVo it, watch it how ever. But whatever you do, don't miss it! And I will talk to you all tonight after the show! Good Day! ;)

It's gonna be LEGEN...wait for it...DARY!!

Bonjour!!! My name is Selina...I don't really watch much TV, but for some reason I am totally obsessed with "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS. I think it started with my weird obsession with Jason Segel after seeing him in the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and then watching him on "Undeclared". But anyway, the new season starts on September 21 and I am SO excited!... I'm such a dork...I know...haha :) So what better way to get excited for the new season...than to do my blog for HIMYM. Here is a little snippet of what the show is about and hopefully you will get hooked too!

For those who aren't into this show yet, some well known stars on the show are Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, and Jason Segel. The story of the show is told in narration by Ted Mosby (played by Josh Radnor) to his kids about how he met their mother. His poor kids expected to listen to a romantic but short story, but they are stuck listening to Ted's LOOOOOONG story...
